Often overlooked or purposefully ignored, women play a major role in coffee production at all stages of the long process which brings you that delicious cup of morning coffee!
The International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) has a mission to empower women in the international coffee community to achieve meaningful and sustainable lives; and to encourage and recognize the participation of women in all aspects of the coffee industry.

The IWCA works through local chapters and assists these to respond to the specific needs of women in coffee in that chapter, supporting them with access to training, a variety of opportunities and marketing and involving them in a worldwide network.
Each year at the Speciality Coffee Association of the Americas (SCA) Expo, IWCA holds a fundraiser breakfast. I was there a few years ago in Seattle and it was wonderful to see more than a thousand people supporting women taking centre-stage in the world of coffee.
On Saturday, April 11 at SCA Boston, at this years ICWA Breakfast, JAMAICA will be welcomed as a new IWCA Chapter.
To mark that day, Rowan’s Royale is planning a special promotion so watch this space on Friday evening when all will be revealed!
